Description

This wallchart illustrates most of the film formats processed or adopted for the presentation of widescreen and 3-dimensional motion pictures. Examples shown date from before the turn of the century with the 51mm Latham Eidoloscope (1895) and Enoch J Rector’s 63mm Veriscope (1897) wide film systems. Later experiments from the 1920s include Abel Grace’s Polyvision and widescreen images made with Henri Chretien’s pioneer anamorphic lens in 1927. These early efforts led in 1929 to Hollywood’s first but unsuccessful attempt to introduce larger and wider screens
